Tokyu Railways serves southwestern Tokyo and Kanagawa with two main lines and a number of shorter lines that span approximately 100 kilometers of track. With a daily ridership of 2.7 million commuters, Tokyu Railways carries nearly a billion passengers every year to their appointed rounds. Game publisher Ongakukan focuses on three of Tokyu's lines in Train Simulator + Densha de Go! Tokyo Kyuukouhen as follows:

Seven models of trains are featured in the game: The 5000-series which generates electricity from its braking system, the 8500-series, 2000-series, 9000-series, 8590-series, 8000-series, and the 8090-series. Along with the accurate visuals of the trains and routes, Ongakukan development staffers sampled the sounds of locomotive motion, the growl from the motor, and the voice of the conductor as he makes announcements for an all around "you are there" conducting experience.
For the sake of brevity in the game title, NCS denotes this as a "Best" game but it is part of the "Ongakukan Pocket Books" re-release series of lower-priced software.
